Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay his respects to Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur, the stalwart socialist leader and former Chief Minister of Bihar, during his visit to Samastipur today.

PM Modi expressed his reverence for Thakur in a post on X, saying, “My respectful salutations to Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur Ji! Today, I will have the good fortune of paying tribute to him in Samastipur.”

During his visit, the Prime Minister will not only pay homage to Thakur but also engage with the local community. Around 12:15 pm, he is scheduled to interact with his “family members” in Samastipur, followed by a public meeting in Begusarai at 2 pm, where he will seek the blessings of the people of the region.

Expressing confidence in the BJP-NDA’s prospects in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, PM Modi said, “The enthusiasm and excitement of the people of Bihar—the masses—indicate that the BJP-NDA is set to achieve a resounding victory in this time’s assembly elections as well.”

Karpoori Thakur, a champion of social justice, is remembered for his pioneering policies, including the introduction of a 26 percent reservation model for backward classes in Bihar. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in recognition of his contributions to social justice and the welfare of the poor.
